Philipp Peters specializes in international commercial arbitration, complex litigation, and the legal structuring and negotiation of international project contracts. He regularly acts as counsel and arbitrator in international ad hoc as well as institutional arbitrations, including under the ICC, LCIA, SCC, DIS, UNCITRAL, and Vienna Rules as well as the CAS Code, and involving the laws of a number of jurisdictions. In his almost two decades of case work, he has acquired experience in numerous litigations and close to 100 arbitration proceedings.

The focus of his counsel and arbitrator work lies with disputes involving highly technical issues, and he is regarded as one of the foremost experts of his generation in complex engineering and construction cases as well as in disputes arising from technical infrastructure projects and joint ventures. His work as drafter and negotiator of contracts centres around technological supply and distribution agreements as well as industrial engineering projects. Clients also value his expertise on issues of construction and real estate law.

He is a member of a number of international arbitration associations, having served on the board of the Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners (YAAP) for fifteen years, including several years as the organisation’s co-chair. He is currently a member of the board of the Austrian Arbitration Association (ArbAut) as well as a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. In addition to having authored numerous publications in his fields of expertise, he regularly lectures and speaks at academic institutions as well as at international conferences.

Philipp Peters is recommended as a leading practitioner in the field of dispute resolution by, amongst others, Who’s Who Legal, Chambers Global & Europe, Legal 500, and Leaders League.
