Veronika Korom specialises in the resolution of large-scale and complex international disputes and has represented clients in various commercial and investment arbitration proceedings under the rules of major arbitral institutions (including the ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA and SCC Rules). She has advised companies and states in a variety of economic sectors such as energy, gas and hydrocarbons, M&A, construction, telecommunications, civil aviation, and mining. Veronika has also represented clients in various types of annulment and setting-aside proceedings, as well as in domestic enforcement proceedings and in proceedings before the courts of the European Union. Additionally, she frequently assists clients in negotiating and drafting the contractual framework for their international business projects under English, French, and Hungarian law.

Veronika Korom sits as arbitrator in commercial arbitrations (including under the rules of the LCIA, VIAC, and HCCI) and has acted as tribunal secretary in ICSID arbitrations. She is referenced as arbitrator on the panel of arbitrators of the Court of Arbitration of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce (HCCI), the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), and the OHADA Common Court of Justice and Arbitration. She has been appointed by the European Commission to the panel of arbitrators and trade and sustainable development experts in bilateral disputes under the EU’s trade agreements with third countries.

Veronika Korom is a member of the Board of the Vienna International Arbitral Centre of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (VIAC). Previously, she was a member of VIAC’s International Advisory Board. She is also a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and of ICC France. She is a founding member and the President of the Hungarian Arbitration Association, founding member and member of the Board of ArbCEE (Arbitration Association of Central and Eastern Europe), member of the Advisory Board of EFILA (European Federation for Investment Law and Arbitration) and a member of the Academic Forum on Investor-State Dispute Settlement.

Veronika Korom is a tenure-track professor at ESSEC Business School in Paris where she is the Co-Director of the Law Track and lectures on international business law and arbitration. She regularly publishes on various arbitration topics and is a regular speaker at international arbitration conferences. Prior to joining Paragon, she worked for over 10 years at leading international law firms in London and Paris.

Veronika Korom has been recognised as “Future Leader” in arbitration in France by Who’s Who Legal since 2019.

She studied law in Hungary (ELTE University), France (University of Aix-en-Provence), and in the UK (University of Oxford) and has received various merit-based scholarships, including the Chevening Scholarship of the UK Government and the Bourse d’Excellence of the French Government. She is dual-qualified in civil law and common law and is admitted to practice in England & Wales, France, and Hungary.
