PARAGON & Vis Moot – A Success Story

Every year, thousands of students and colleagues gather in Vienna to celebrate the spirit of the Vis Moot – one of the world’s most inspiring educational events. At PARAGON, we share a deep connection with the Vis Moot. Many of our lawyers began their journey into the world of commercial arbitration through this competition, making it a natural choice for us to support both Viennese universities this year.

We are immensely proud that both universities achieved historic results in 2025.

The University of Vienna Vis Moot Team, officially coached by PARAGON, advanced once again to the elimination rounds, secured a place among the top 16 teams worldwide, earned several honourable mentions and –  on top of that –  won the Pieter Sanders Award for the best memorandum for Claimant. Brian Gabriel-Oiwoh served as coach of these exceptional talents: Varvara Artiukh, Sophie Hannah Egger, Lukas Hellmayr, Agnes Oppitz, Jonas Schneider-Beron, and Alina Waldenberger – alongside the stellar coaching team: Christian Koller, Matthias Lehmann, Elliot Perkins, Lukas Petschning, Katarina Marko, and Julia Reichstamm.

This year also marked a milestone for the Vis Moot Team WU Vienna, which achieved its most successful result to date. For the first time in their history, the team advanced to the semi-finals, placing third out of 384 teams worldwide, and earning honourable mentions for both memoranda. Founded just seven years ago by Dominik Loidl – who continues to coach the team – this year’s participants included these stars of today and tomorrow: Tina Andert, Javier Castillo Janschek, Marie-Christine Hauser, Julia Rauhofer, Svetlana Ruzicic, and Philipp Schauer jointly with the outstanding coaches Fabijan Berket, Florian Laher, Laura Marte, Jakob Popper, and Caroline Strohmeier.

These outstanding achievements are a testament to the dedication, excellence, and teamwork of all involved. We at PARAGON could not be prouder. Congratulations to both teams on this extraordinary success!
